Once word gets out that you have an electric drum carder you may find that fleece donations just start to breed in your stash. Or perhaps you have an animal or two on your own hobby farm? Well, this big boy is perfect for saving you time processing large quantities of fibre, up to 100grams, in one go!
Designed with the most versatile 72 point carding cloth it can handle a wide range of microns from fine combed mill tops to courser locks and texture-adding fibres making it a great all-rounder for those who like to experiment. For very fine fibres you can do a second pass through the carder for beautifully smooth results and for textured art batts you can feed larger chunks of textured fibres straight onto the large drum.
Of course Ashford thinks of everything and includes a packer brush, cleaning brush, doffer and clamps which means you can use it straight out of the box with no fluffing around trying to locate the extra bits and bobs you need.
Turn fibre preparation into relaxation. It's not only fun and easy it turns fibre into the most divine sliver ready to spin, weave, felt or sell.
This e-carder has two exceptionally powerful motors to enable fleece and sliver to be carded easily and quickly.
Features include:
• Infinitely variable speed control for both drums plus a ratio control to vary the in-feed speed
• Acrylic safety covers over the drums and the drive belts, and a magnetic safety switch, for safe use
• Stepped tooth non-slip drive belts with belt tensioners
• Additional on/off foot switch allows hands-free fibre preparation and feeding-in
• When in reverse, for fibre removal, the drums rotate at 10% carding speed
• Carding drums can be removed to clean bearings
• Manufactured in beautiful Silver Beech hardwood with a lacquered finish
